Episode 51-The Boys Season 1 Review

Hanging With The Boys!!!!

The Boys season 1 is finally on our list to talk about and boy do the guys seem to like it! they have a lot to say about it. The series has been around for a bit but we haven’t gotten around to it. The amazon series is a hit for both fans and critics but how does it rate for us.

  • Beau takes a nitpick to his ups and downs on the series
  • Homelander was scary as all hell and it seem much more interesting than expected
  • There seems to be a big difference between the comic and the show.
  • Swamp thing is cancelled after it’s first episode even though it’s a good show
  • How do you control a guy with the powers of Superman with him seeing through everything you do and ending you
  • Do we think Zack Snyder wishes he could have made the Boys
  • How many knockoff versions of Superman are there in fiction?

Today its both Mikes and a Beau!

Suggestions? Complaints- Drop us a line, and if they’re awesome we’ll read them over the air. mike@geekoftheweekpodcast.com beau@geekoftheweekpodcast.com

Episode 50-What Shaped our Fandom

A look inside ourselves as fans

The guy dig deep and come straight from the soul to talk about the the media and such that has shaped what they like and who they are, what in their geekdom has shaped their opinions, directed their likes and is the lens they look through when they talk about anything. It’s a very personal inner look at who the are in Nerd Ranks. They were hesitant to release this but decided to go through with it for our 50th numbered episode. Fandom is at the center of their beings

  • Are they doing a Bit at the end of this.
  • The Tranformers thing at the end after the Outro is weird….
  • Why is is Steven Kings stuff so filled with sex stuff, it brings things to a halt
  • Chances Are….Really Mike?
  • Is Shawshank Redemption the most watchable movie of all time
  • Wow…. Dune…. a remake, they are making a remake… it’s about time
  • Lagacy of Kain!! Vay Victus!!!

Today its both Mikes and Beau!! Where are you Pete?!!

Episode 49-Spider-Man Far from Home Review “Spoilers”

Lets talk about that “Peter Tingle”

I know it came out awhile ago and all that Sony/Marvel stuff happened inbetween, but the guys wanted nothing to do with it and they were pretty positive it would resolve itself. So the guys waited and now the wait is over as they review Spider-Man Far From Home…. and peter’s Tingle. They also give a brief take on the Eternals, the Marvel Plus TV shows (Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Wanda Vison etc.)

  • Wow Spider-Man Far From Home is an old chestnut of a movie by now
  • This movie had a lot of ups and downs to take folks through
  • Beau should not sing for a living, leave singing to Pete
  • They start the Podcast talking about the Boys, which will be fully reviewed next week
  • What a way to bring in the psycho ass Spidey Villains!!!!
  • The Spidey Sense has been there since day one, I just think Spidey needs a TV show
  • Ever notice Beau never rolls with whatever the rating system is

Today its Mike, Beau and Pete!!

Suggestions? Complaints- Drop us a line, and if they’re awesome we’ll read them over the air. mike@geekoftheweekpodcast.com beau@geekoftheweekpodcast.com

Episode 48-Cyberpunk Red RPG Review

Cyberpunk Red Jumpstart Review

Cyberpunk Red Rpg review is finally here! I know it took awhile but the guys are back after a 6 month hiatus and it’s just right for them to start up with their first love…. Roleplaying Games!!!! Cyberpunk 2077 is around the corner and the corresponding RPG Cyberpunk Red will release… um according to their website “When it’s ready” okay. But the Jump start set for red did release aaaand , at the time of this recording the guys didn’t have it so they are gonna just talk about Cyberpunk.

  • Haven’t we done this before
  • Time in RPGs can be a problem
  • They ran Cyber 2020 on New Years Eve?! But you’ll hear about that later in a different episode
  • True Nerds, could’ve partied hard but instead game tested an RPG
  • When is Cyberpunk 2077 coming out
  • These guys don’t talk about RPGs enough
  • They took a really long vacation….. nobody reads this stuff

Today its Mikes and Beau!!

Farscape 20th Anniversary with Gigi Edgley and James Ganiere Episode 47

Farscape 20th Anniversary Celebration at San Diego Comiccon and After party For the Fans!!!

It’s the Farscape 20th anniversary celebration happening in San Diego and Beau and Mike are talking with Gigi Edgley (Chiana) from Farscape and the Amazing James Ganiere (you’ll understand why he’s amazing during the episode) I don’t know how Mike and Beau manage to hold it together….. they are professionals? Nah! They just managed to contain themselves long enough to make it through, but you can tell Mike is cracking as he is waiting to squeal in the background.

  • San Diego Comic Con celebration and Panel
  • There will be and after party for the fans to attend and meet some of the stars of Farscape
  • We have Gigi Edgley pretty much holding the podcast together and keeping the guys on topic
  • Gigi has been really busy working in everything the fans would like
  • She (Gigi) has been in an episode of Star Trek Continues
  • Check out the trailer for Hashtag starring Gigi

Geek memories of the past meet with hope for future geek shows to marvel our little minds, the guys go in talking about the event at the comic con and inside topics about their love for the fandom, we have only Beau and Mike today because the other Mike would cause the combo to explode in a geek bomb and Pete is braving Tormented space to yet again achieve even greater enlightenment.

Check Gigi at http://www.gigiedgley.com/ and James at https://riovistauniversal.com/ and get ticket for the event at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/official-farscape-20th-anniversary-san-diego-comic-con-vip-party-tickets-63398950969

Episode 46-Spider-man: Far from Topic

Spider-Man Far From Home Discussion

With Spider-Man right around the corner it’s only natural the guy talk about it… or they should but instead the Meander about several topics from Keanu Reeves super comeback to Star Trek Piccard to finally talking about Spider-Man. Mike and Mike start the talk and chat about until out of the Shadows…. Beau arrives and the talk actually begins…

  • JJ Abrams and his son write a comic? For Marvel? What??
  • The Externals Movie is a thing thats gonna happen and the MCU want Keanu
  • Does anyone actual read this?
  • Really I do feel like I can just go on in this section and no one will care… I know the guys don’t read it so…
  • I will remember you… La da la dee da da
  • Mike really likes the original Guardians of the Galaxy but keeps calling Major Victory Captain Marvel
  • Terminator is probably gonna suck again
  • Also, What If Mysterio IS a good guy?
  • Tired of typing, so this is the last bullet point

Summer movies, geek topics and nonsense… we have lots to talk about but they just go all over the place…. I think they really wanted to talk about Spider-Man: Far from Home.

  • Wow Marvel Comics Civil War was full of heroes doing really horrible stuff
  • The Russo’s really pulled off a miracle if this was the source material Yeesh

Episode 44-Shazam Review… Finally

DC’s Shazam movie…we finally talk about it

Awhile back Shazam released to theaters worldwide and the guys…. said nothing. Well that’s gonna change today as Mike and Mike and Beau rally to talk about DC movies again!!! As well as a number of DC related topics as DC is back on the table of discussion again…

  • Shazam was a Fun movie but damn it had some dark moments
  • Mike still hasn’t purchased Wonder Woman on BluRay yet?
  • Sparkle Vamp was cast as Batman?!!
  • Aquaman was a movie that wasn’t talked about also, guess they took their DC embargo seriously
  • Beau is bailing out on Marvel on a High Note
  • Aquaman was like 6 movies in one movie and still worked somehow
  • The romance in Aquaman didn’t work at all though

Today it’s Beau, Mike and Mike and they really feel the need to chat on about DC Movies of late and the state and maybe the future of these movies…. Not that the guys have any say in the state of any of this but it’s fun to talk about anyway

Suggestions? Complaints- Drop us a line, and if they’re awesome we’ll read them over the air. mike@geekoftheweekpodcast.com beau@geekoftheweekpodcast.com

Episode 43-DC comics Review May 2019-Heroes in Crisis

DC Comics Universe, Heroes in Crisis, the good and the bad

So today Beau and Mike tackle DC Comics May 2019 releases…. (I guess this is a thing now) gonna cover all the important stuff like Heroes in Crisis and…

  • Tom King might be writing to much quantity for quality to be maintained
  • The power of Under-Roos and Lobo vs Wolverine (yeah that happened)
  • Wally West…. WT Actual F!!! Really!?
  • John Kent was cool as a child character
  • Doomsday Clock has been ongoing since 2017???
  • Nerdtopia has come!!!
  • Lets talk about Tom King and Heroes in Crisis

Today it’s just Beau and Mike and they really feel the need to chat on about DC comics and while it’s only supposed to cover the May 2019 issues they still can’t help but reference further back (mainly Mike can’t help it) but they kinda stay on target as best they can.

Suggestions? Complaints- Drop us a line, and if they’re awesome we’ll read them over the air. mike@geekoftheweekpodcast.com beau@geekoftheweekpodcast.com

Game of Thrones Finale Review

Trisha Hershberger returns as promised long ago to review the series finale of Game of Thrones and O Boy her and the guy have a lot to say… so much that they made it a Jumbosode. Now because so many negatives get covered in the episode I’m gonna list my positives for GOT Such as…

  • So pretty, every episode was beautiful
  • Sansa may not have won the GOT but she is killing it in the Game of Wardrobe
  • Clegan Bowl!!!
  • Man! That battle in episode 3, WoW just WoW

  • Game of Thrones is actually done
  • I really think Podrick gets a better ending than he’ll ever get in the books and that’s great, Right?
  • Some really good spinoff ideas are on the way, really exciting
  • Drogon really got down over the water!
  • Brianne gets SOME!!! oh yeah… nevermind well?…

Two Mikes and Trisha open up the discussion on Game of Thrones and then Beau gets their right after she leaves but still plenty to say

Suggestions? Complaints- Drop us a line, and if they’re awesome we’ll read them over the air. mike@geekoftheweekpodcast.com beau@geekoftheweekpodcast.com
