Episode 33-Christmas Specials

Christmas Specials, We want more of them!!

Christmas Special, They might just be the cornerstone of holiday geekdom. Star Wars Holiday special while both Famous and Infamous is often remembered as a must see of Star Wars (like watching a car wreck). Well the guys get together (minus Pete, so it’s 2 Mikes and a Beau) to talk about their favorite holiday specials and ones they would want.

  • Opening up with the elf from Rudolph…. Bad Dentist
  • Not enough Holiday specials in comics and Shows
  • Does anyone actual read this?
  • Really I do feel like I can just go on in this section and no one will care… I know the guys don’t read it so…
  • I will remember you… La da la dee da da
  • We will be going away for the holidays to return mid Febuary
  • They reall should animate a Lobo Christmas Special
  • Tired of typing, so this is the last bullet point

Christmas Specials, Holiday specials in general should be celebrated, a nice break from all the angry geek fights over silly things and celebrate why we love this pop culture corner of our universe. Spend your time figuring out which superhero could pull off Santa’s job or would it require a team?

The guys get together (Beau comes in a little late) an talk about the passing of a Legend… Stan Lee passed away a few weeks ago and the guys never discussed it. After which they go whole hog on talking about little known cartoons and more and Finally get to that Venom Spoiler review, Some of the subject include

  • RIP Stan Lee, your memory will long out live your remarkable age
  • The Dungeons & Dragons cartoon actually had a unreleased/unproduced series finally
  • Cartoons in the 80’s were Toy Lines and Toy commercials, nostalgia has made them into more than that.
  • Die Cast Metal toys were better (Not really, but we thought they were)
  • He-Man…. will the guys stop poo pooing on He-Man
  • Dream Casting He-Man for a live action Movie/Series
  • Doctor Doom is an amazing villain, can’t wait to see what Marvel finally does with him
  • Beau has FINALLY seen VENOM!!!!

Many highlights talking about the best in Stan’s characters, talking about cartoons of yesteryear that still get no burn, the Dream casting of a He-Man Movie and finally a Spoiler review of Venom! OMG!!! How did that movie happen.

Episode 31-Red Dead Redemption 2 and other games

Red Dead Redemption 2 (Game Strong!!!)

A host of single player games have released this in 2018 and the guys start a discussion on it…… or so they would have you believe. They of course Segway several time in the course of this conversation… but they do talk about Red Dead Redemption 2, they stray off into several topics, such as:

  • Of Course they talk about Roleplaying and the idea of playing a western Red Dead Redemption 2
  • Movies again, and yes Dc comes up
  • Game adjacent subjects such as home set up and the need for a 4K tv
  • Dragonball Super Movie Broly…. I don’t know how that happens
  • Marge Simpson seems to be there and grumbles at them?
  • Witcher Streaming series starring Henry Cavill and his blasted hair issues
  • Pete is not there to keep the guys on course
  • George Lucas getting all that toy money back in the day
  • Game Strong rant…. goes on a little too long

So they have a pretty nonsense filled discussion and a topic I wouldn’t call them experts on…. but they have fun. I’m gonna start using this page to start ragging them. It might be fun and only folks who read this will actually notice it.

Jumbosode 02- Fall Comics Review with Travis Rivas

Fall Comics review with Travis Rivas

Beau goes out on assignment to meetup with comic creator Travis Rivas (the 2nd Shift, Accidental Alien, Morning Star, Unstoppable Cherub) to review comic releases so far this fall and they have a lot to cover in this 2nd Grand JUMBO-EPISODE! So strap in and get ready for the long haul….

  • Beau has a Secret Comic Script?
  • A Scarlet Spider apologist on the show?!!
  • Spidergeddon
  • Iron-Man is a Dick… we should really discuss that
  • Is anyone gonna acknowledge that the 90’s cartoon inspired all the Spiderverse stuff
  • Wolverine is Back and has hot Claws?
  • Madripoor Mysteries and Adamantium Adventures
  • We have too many different comic rating systems in this episode

So Beau and Travis sit down (at what seems to be an airstrip, Thanks a lot Beau) and have talk about comics thus far this fall. Like I said earlier, it’s a long episode so strap in.

Episode 30-Horror Movies Favorites (Belated Halloween)

Horror Movie Favorites (Belated Halloween)

Horror Movies is a genre that seem to stand the test of time as well as evolve over the couse of time. The guy come together to talk about their favorite and memorable Horror movies, show etc…

  • They go down the list of what movies did it for them
  • The Ring, and how many creepy things happen after watching it
  • Why do we like being scared
  • Horror Movies that seem to transcend the Genre
  • Sci-fi, Fantasy or Religious Horror, which is best
  • That Jacob’s Ladder Dance scene and what is does to the mind of young boys
  • Where the hell is Mike…. the 1st Mike
  • Horror on Television, good or not…
  • Clowns WTF is up with Clowns and why are they still a thing?

So they have a very calm discussion about Horror today covering several angles of the subject. Still there is so much more to cover in the genre of Horror I feel they may definitely come back to the subject down the road, but now here is what you get!

Minisode 10-We Are Venom?

Spoiler Free-ish Review of Venom

Mike and Mike have seen Venom and Beau hasn’t…. They are gonna try to share their experience of the movie with Beau and needless to say it is confusing, as they try to explain

  • What is the Tone of the movie
  • Is the movie good and what exactly that means
  • Schrodinger’s Venom Movie
  • What is the movie about
  • What does entertained even mean anymore
  • Is the Movie Good?
  • How Venom might be a cinematic love letter to the Princess Bride
  • Pete may be missing the best moment in Mike history
  • What did we even watch?!!
  • What must’ve the pitch meeting over Venom been like

Overall I think once again Mike and Mike have damaged their collective minds on another foray into geekdom, Pete wasn’t here for this so could someone warn him.

Episode 29- To the Fandom (Fanatics)

Fandom or Fanatics

A couple of months ago some of the Fandom went into an uproar over Voltron the Legendary Defender, the Guys usually avoid getting into subjects like this but it couldn’t be avoided, but they also couldn’t even stay on topic anyway. As such the talk about:

  • Beau has quite the opening statement full of love …?
  • Protect Stan Lee, he needs it, Stop abusing him
  • Green Lantern used to be a hippie?
  • Mike (the Darker Loader Mike) keeps channeling his inner M’baku on the War Line
  • Beau Intros Voltron
  • Who should get Busy (Shipping Characters)
  • The guys are so out of control they curse before the intro!
  • What the Hell is Raptor Ranchers?!!

Episode 28-Mike Houston from Orange is the New Black

Orange is the New Black-Mike Houston C.O. Lee Dixon

So today the guys (specifically Mike and Pete) talk to Mike Houston (C.O. Lee Dixon) from Orange is the New Black and they go on a tear discussing topics across the board such as:

  • Why Pete should really watch Orange is the New Black
  • Villains, Antagonist, etc and how they need to be human as well in a narrative
  • Acting as a craft in general
  • Other shows like, Sneaky Pete and Boardwalk Empire
  • How TV and Movies have shaped views of certain topics folks don’t commonly know about
  • We go into Orange is the New Black and his Character Lee Dixon
  • Wow! The prison system
  • Being honest in the portrayal of a character
  • Beau and the other Mike are not with us in this Episode
  • can’t wait till season 7 OITNB

They get into really heavy topics but still manage to keep it light hearted, No idea how they pull that off, all in all Mike Houston is an awesome guy and it was great to have him on

Beau about San Diego ComicFest 2019 with Matt Dunford

Beau, got some time to talk with Matt Dunford about Comicfest 2019 and the history of Comic Conventions. Sit back and enjoy as they cover

  • What the other Mike is up to…. once again Who cares
  • The how in how SDCC got started
  • What Comicfest is all about
  • The whos who of Comicfest
  • Why it’s never good to interview in earshot of a sonic boom
  • A brief mention of how awesome Jack “The King” Kirby was and will always be

This is a rare treat to get to talk with Matt Dunford, the U.S. Airforce is doing some fly over testing so we get a little interference from them soundwise but nothing serious.
