Episode 50-What Shaped our Fandom

A look inside ourselves as fans

The guy dig deep and come straight from the soul to talk about the the media and such that has shaped what they like and who they are, what in their geekdom has shaped their opinions, directed their likes and is the lens they look through when they talk about anything. It’s a very personal inner look at who the are in Nerd Ranks. They were hesitant to release this but decided to go through with it for our 50th numbered episode. Fandom is at the center of their beings

Farscape 20th Anniversary with Gigi Edgley and James Ganiere Episode 47

Farscape 20th Anniversary Celebration at San Diego Comiccon and After party For the Fans!!!

It’s the Farscape 20th anniversary celebration happening in San Diego and Beau and Mike are talking with Gigi Edgley (Chiana) from Farscape and the Amazing James Ganiere (you’ll understand why he’s amazing during the episode) I don’t know how Mike and Beau manage to hold it together….. they are professionals? Nah! They just managed to contain themselves long enough to make it through, but you can tell Mike is cracking as he is waiting to squeal in the background.

  • San Diego Comic Con celebration and Panel
  • There will be and after party for the fans to attend and meet some of the stars of Farscape
  • We have Gigi Edgley pretty much holding the podcast together and keeping the guys on topic
  • Gigi has been really busy working in everything the fans would like
  • She (Gigi) has been in an episode of Star Trek Continues

Geek memories of the past meet with hope for future geek shows to marvel our little minds, the guys go in talking about the event at the comic con and inside topics about their love for the fandom, we have only Beau and Mike today because the other Mike would cause the combo to explode in a geek bomb and Pete is braving Tormented space to yet again achieve even greater enlightenment.

Game of Thrones Finale Review

Trisha Hershberger returns as promised long ago to review the series finale of Game of Thrones and O Boy her and the guy have a lot to say… so much that they made it a Jumbosode. Now because so many negatives get covered in the episode I’m gonna list my positives for GOT Such as…

  • So pretty, every episode was beautiful
  • Sansa may not have won the GOT but she is killing it in the Game of Wardrobe
  • Clegan Bowl!!!
  • Man! That battle in episode 3, WoW just WoW
  • Arya getting SOME!!!! o Yeah!!
  • Game of Thrones is actually done
  • I really think Podrick gets a better ending than he’ll ever get in the books and that’s great, Right?
  • Some really good spinoff ideas are on the way, really exciting
  • Drogon really got down over the water!
  • Brianne gets SOME!!! oh yeah… nevermind well?…

Episode 36-Daunting Fandoms

Fandoms…. There is a lot of them

Fandoms come in many colors, shapes and niches… Some of them running so long you have to wonder how one can be interested in all of them. Today the guys talk about big established fandoms that folks just find so big that they’re just not interested enough to get into.

  • Fandoms are for fun not homework
  • Mainstream comics (Marvel/DC) are just really long and open ended
  • How much Warhammer is too much Warhammer
  • Dragonball Super just released and amazingly fun movie
  • How much Dragon Ball is there?
  • So we have Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, Dragon Ball Heroes Etc…
  • When is Doctor Who going to end… Never duh

Episode 9 – Interview with Ramón Pérez!

We’re taking this week with the Eisner award winning comic artist Ramón Pérez about his work in the comics and role playing industry, as well as his indie projects coming up.

During his career,  Ramón got his start in the Palladium RPG company, drawing Grackles, Layline Walkers, and Snaggle-toothed-carpet-baggers for the Rifts Line. He landed an award for best inker/Penciller for the Jim Henson penned “A Tale of Sand“, for Artesia comics, before moving onto DC and Marvel. He was the illustrator for SpiderMan: Learning to Crawl, and recently finished his run on the Hawkeye comic.

This week is a no holds barred geektackular: We’re talking Deadpool!  We’re talking RPG’s! We are talking superhero TV! Our demented minds are contemplating Ewok prostitutes! Gambit! Walking Dead! And the secret to beating Superman… lots of money.
