Episode 19-Reviewing Solo, Deadpool and Avengers Infinity War

Hey internet!

Geek of the week is back with our 1st episode of season 3!! It’s been awhile but we are gonna start talking about the recent summer movies such as Solo, Deadpool and the Mega hit Avengers Infinity War !!!

It’s a full house today, as Beau, Mike, Pete, and new to the Podcast yet another Mike talk about all the recent Blockbusters that have just recently come out. They are gonna talk about all the important topics….. Such as:

  • Was Solo: A Star Wars Story a good movie, why did it do so poorly, was it even necessary?
  • Is Chewbacca’s nickname a play on his past as a forced cannibal?
  • Deadpool 2 compared to the first Deadpool.
  • Why don’t the heroes of the Marvel Universe just do what Cap tells them to do?
  • Once again we will compare the success of the MCU to the lackluster DCEU and how we wish the DCEU was better!!
  • and should Thanos have a mustache?

We are good and ready to go with this new season and may actually live up to the whole “Week” part in Geek of The Week as we are now switching to a new weekly format.

Suggestions? Complaints- Drop us a line, and if they’re awesome we’ll read them over the air. mike@geekoftheweekpodcast.com beau@geekoftheweekpodcast.com

Episode 17- Cartoon talk with Gina Ippolito!!

Hey internet!

Geek of the week is back with a vengeance, and without further ado, we’re joined by Comedian, writer, director and actress Gina Ippolito!

Gina is a writer on the regular Show, which just wrapped up its eighth and final season. She’s worked on  a few other shows like The Powerpuff Girls reboot. People who are familiar with the interwebs may have seen her on as well as a member of the Screen Junkies Crew, duking it out on MovieFights, and a writer on Honest Trailers, as well as tons and tons and tons of podcasts.

It’s a full house today, as Beau, Mike, Pete, and Gina talk about Saturday Morning (the cartoon part, not the afternoon basketball part). They ponder such things as:

  • Who the Hell are Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, and why should we care about his magic root?
  • All those times Van Damme accidentally kicked people in the head.
  • Thuuundarrr The Barbarian!! vs. Hurculoids!
  • Has Gummy Berry Juice contributed to the steroid abuse scandals in professional sports?
  • Why do all the ladies (and Donatello) get stuck with the bow staffs?
  • and remember the SecTaurs??

Oh, and Sorry about the delays – Fill in the blanks with this one: (technical difficulties, Jobs, the environment, -can we use the upcoming robopocalypse ?). We’re back on regular schedule with a host of new episodes and a bunch of special guests!

You can find Gina at @GinaIppy on twitter and on her knowing is half the podcast on facebook and Itunes. The Regular Show’s all wrapped up, but you can check out  episodes on Cartoon Network!

Pete Talks Westworld!!

My Dear and Loyal Friends,

Have you accepted Westworld into your hearts? Pete sat us down and tried to convert the geeks to  the gospel of robots and human nature,  and why should YOU watch Westworld? What’s it about, where did it come from? All the themes- All Spoiler free!!

Later, we touch a little on Ghost in the Shell, and triggers into a showdown of classic scifi vs. classic fantasy. Which does it better, and which is quantity over quality. And, most importantly, is there  even a difference these days? (see StarWars for details)

  •  “Beastmaster was not … timeless”

And then Pete goes into a heated ragebender for the recent Walking Dead episodes, which is weird, because we never hear anything but love out of the guy, so WD must be really torturing him.  (Warning: minor WD spoilers if you’re not caught up, with some major ones for the comic.

Did you like Westworld? Or the picks for the best Scifi and fantasy movies? Did you think Pete is right to hate on the Walking Dead, or does he just need a hug?  Suggestions? Complaints and vegtable throwing- Drop us a line, and if they’re awesome we’ll read them over the air. mike@geekoftheweekpodcast.com beau@geekoftheweekpodcast.com

Episode 16- Rogue One Spoilers & Carrie Fisher

2016 Sucked!!

Glad that’s over. Unfortunately, shortly before recording our Rogue One Spoilers Review, we heard about the passing of Carrie Fisher, so we’re a little less ‘together’ than usual. With that, the crew is a little divided on Rogue One, and the state of underwear in the Star Wars Universe. Mind you, there are

SPOILERRRRRRRRS

of the last two movies (Force Awakens & Rogue One), as we discuss the movies, minute, and generally duke it out over the characters in the resistance.

As we push out the 25th posting of the show ( with 16 eps, 9 mini’s), we would just like to thank all our listeners and subscribers for sticking with us. We’re pretty excited about the next shows coming up, with interviews, reviews, and tons of other stuff, and we would love to hear your feedback. Its a labor of love, and appreciate the love in return.

On with the program, and have a happy 2017!

Happy Holidays Everyone!, ‘Tis the Season to talk about trailers!

We have a lot of awesome stuff coming along the way, including some interviews with some cool people, and a review of the new Star Wars Movie, but first we figured we’d whet the whistle (whatever that means) and give yo some more trailer talk! We touch base on the good stuff like The mummy, Guardians of the Galaxy, Blade, Thor and the Legacy of Kaine Vampire throws his two cents in on Old Man Logan. Warning, we get a little spoilery on Dr. Strange when we talk about the infinity stones.

Oh yeah, decided to Kidnap Pete Mitchell and keep him in our basement. In between feedings we have him guesting on our episodes, and ask important things, such as:

  • Who is the hunk of Laketown, and why is he Dracula?
  • What the heck does that have to do with the Mummy?
  • Why should I watch Star Wars Rebels?
